How to Stay Consistent Training for runDisney Races

Season 3 of Running to the Castle Podcast w/ Dr. Ali Marty

Episode 190 runDisney Training Consistency Slow Runners

In this episode of Running to the Castle, Dr. Ali breaks down why consistency is the real challenge for runDisney runners…and why it feels harder when you sign up for a race eight to nine months before you actually start training.

She explains how trying to do too much too soon leads to burnout, injuries, and the familiar cycle of falling off the plan, then feeling frustrated with yourself.

Dr. Ali walks listeners through a more sustainable approach to consistency by focusing on realistic commitments, small habit-building strategies, and structuring training around what your life can actually support…not what an internet plan says you “should” be doing.

This episode reframes motivation as unreliable and shows how pairing training with existing routines, starting with less, and planning long runs intentionally can help slow, back-of-the-pack, or injury-prone runners stay consistent all the way to race day.

Hi! I’m Ali. I’ve been in the health and wellness space since graduating with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2012. I worked in the typical outpatient clinic with active men and women with orthopedic injuries (shin splints, Achilles tendonitis, muscle and ligament tears, knee pain, IT Band pain, plantar fasciitis, and hip and knee arthritis until 2018 at which point I started Mobile Physical Therapy in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over the past few years I’ve transitioned to helping women running runDisney races after they’ve had an injury and they want to finish strong and enjoy the rest of their runcation.
